If only the knew what was hiding under her wig..

Episode 1

Everyone thought Tamara was just a quiet girl who kept to herself. But the day her wig slipped off during a school assembly… the entire room froze. Because what she was hiding beneath it? Changed everything.

Tamara arrived late on resumption day, her guardian’s worn-down Toyota barely rolling into the compound before the security gate clanked shut. All the other students were already unpacking their buckets and arranging lockers, but she walked in alone, dragging a dusty Ghana-Must-Go bag behind her. What stood out wasn’t just her silence or her hesitation—it was the large, jet-black curly wig glued tightly to her head, framing her delicate face like armor. The other girls noticed immediately, whispering behind cupped hands. Who wears a full wig at age fourteen? And to a boarding school?

Tamara was assigned to Blue House and given the top bunk in Dorm 2B. As she climbed up to spread her blanket, she noticed the stares, the glances, and the subtle smirks. But she ignored them. Every time someone tried to ask her about her wig—whether out of curiosity or mockery—she simply looked away and changed the topic. One girl, Bunmi, even joked that maybe Tamara hid snacks underneath it. But Tamara didn’t laugh. She just adjusted the wig slightly and tightened the scarf around it. Beneath that synthetic mass, something hidden pulsed like a buried truth.

Lights-out was at 9:00 PM, but that didn’t stop the whispering in Dorm 2B. Tamara pretended to be asleep, her back to the rest of the girls, but she could hear every word. They were talking about her again. A girl named Imade whispered that she thought Tamara might be bald. Another suggested she was hiding tribal marks so deep they looked like cuts. But it was Bunmi—the loudest of them—who claimed that Tamara probably had a big old lump on her head. The girls giggled under their covers, their flashlights flickering like tiny secrets. Tamara didn’t move. But under her blanket, she clutched her pillow tight, as if it could hold back her tears.

The next morning, during inspection, the housemistress, Madam Grace, called for all wigs and scarves to be removed. It was part of the school rules—no unnatural hair or head coverings unless medically excused. The girls giggled in anticipation, eyes darting to Tamara. She stood frozen as the housemistress came closer. Bunmi nudged another girl and whispered, This is it. We’re finally going to see what she’s hiding. But just as Madam Grace reached for Tamara’s headscarf, Tamara took a step back and murmured something too low for anyone to hear. Madam Grace paused, looked her over, then moved on. That moment was when the rumors turned into something more than gossip. Now, the girls were convinced… Tamara had a real secret.
