I slammed my bedroom door shut, trying to block out the image of my mom Sophia and Julian together. My mind raced with questions and doubts.
Was she ever truly in love with him?
And who was Julian, really?
I paced back and forth in my room, feeling trapped and helpless. Suddenly, my gaze fell on Julian.
He was handsome, with piercing blue eyes and chiseled features.
But that didn't excuse Sophia's betrayal.
I tried to focus on my anger, but Julian's smile lingered in my mind.
Why did he have to be so attractive?
And why did I care?
I shook my head, clearing my thoughts.
I needed to confront Sophia, demand answers.
I stormed back downstairs, determination fueling my steps.
"Sophia, we need to talk," I said, my voice firm.
Sophia looked up, concern etched on her face.
"Ava, honey, I—"
"No," I cut in. "Tell me about Julian. Who is he?"
Sophia hesitated.
"Julian is...a friend. He's been helping me through tough times."
I raised an eyebrow.
"A friend?" I repeated.
Sophia's eyes pleaded with me.
"Ava, please understand. I'm trying to move on."
Move on?
From Dad?
I felt a pang of sadness, but Julian's presence distracted me.
He stood beside Sophia, his eyes locked onto mine.
"Ava, I know this is hard," Julian said, his voice gentle. "But I care about Sophia. And you."
My heart skipped a beat.
Did he just say that?
And why did his words make me feel warm inside?
To be continued...
