MY JEALOUS FRIEND. 11

Two weeks passed and Joseph didn't return neither was he picking my calls.

I will call him and he will not answer and he will not return my call either.

I tried calling Nonye but her phone was switched off too and it was only her number that I had.

So I became worried about it and I called my mom and told her about the situation and she said I should not worry nothing bad will happen to Joseph and she believes that Joseph would receive or call me back if he was with his phone.

I even called Jack and asked him if he heard from Joseph but he said he is being calling him but he's not picking up too.

So I became really worried .

Like, what would have happened to him?

I started talking to myself and calling out Joseph's name.

Joseph, please are you sure you are okay wherever you are now?

Please my love remember your promise and return back to me your baby.

You even asked me to stay in your house and wait for you until you return which I did.

Please God, protect my love for me and don't allow any harm to befall him.

I started crying and calling out Joseph's name but I didn't get any response.

I went downstairs and then I saw his portrait at the wall in the sitting room and I removed it and held it with my two hands.

I held it so tight and I sat on the couch and continued with my crying.

I cried until I slept off on the couch with his portrait  lying on my chest.

As I fell asleep, I started dreaming and in my dreams, I was passing by the way though the road was a bit bushy

Then I heard someone shouting for help and I decided to check out so I can know who it was though I was scared.

I Drew close and I heard Joseph's voice.

I ran immediately to the place and I saw Joseph tied to a tree and there was no one close by.

So I quickly ran as fast as I could and I tried to untie him from the ropes but it was so tight that I couldn't loosen it.

My love was still crying in pains as was trying to untie him.

Just then I saw Cynthia standing by the side and she was just giving a devilish smile .

I asked her to come and help me so I can untie Joseph and she said I was stupid to ask her to help me untie Joseph.

And she also added that she was the one who tied Joseph up and that is where he will remain until he changes his mind and gets married to her.

I started crying.

I told Cynthia that since that was her plans she will never succeed as far as God is on my side.

I was close to loosing Joseph when Cynthia pointed a gun at me and said to me that it seems I was going to be a serious obstacle to her so she has to get away with it first so she can freely enjoy her union with Joseph in peace.

As she pulled the trigger, I woke up and immediately my phone started ringing and it was Nonye that was calling.

I quickly picked up the call because I was still shaking from the experience I had in the dream and then seeing her call again.

Hello Aunty Bella.

Hi Nonye, good to hear from you finally because I have been trying to reach you ever since your brother travelled but your phone is off and Joseph too how is he doing? Is it ok? Did he lost his phone or something.

Because he's not been picking my calls nor returning them either.

I became so excited and confused at the same time.

So Nonye answered and said everybody was fine, and about his brother, his phone is not lost and that was why she managed to remove my number from his phone today and she is calling me.

 I was surprised to hear that Joseph's phone didn't lost yet he couldn't receive nor return my calls all this while.

Then I asked Nonye to tell me what the problem was.

And she said some weeks ago, a lady came to their house in the village and she claimed that she was Joseph's girlfriend and that she was even pregnant for him but Joseph didn't want to take responsibility for the pregnancy all he was blinded by the charms I gave him .

 And that she said her name was Cynthia

So that was why she had to trace her way to his village so she could inform the parents and also to ask them if she could abort the baby because Joseph is not ready yet.

But as soon as their parents heard about pregnancy and Joseph been the first child, they asked her to stay behind and wait so they could call Joseph to come home and take care of his responsibility.

So that was why Joseph travelled home and his parents forced him to marry Cynthia.

But Joseph refused saying that he will never get married to Cynthia and that his wedding with me was in less than a month.

Joseph even told his parents that Cynthia happened to be my friend and how she tried so many times to get his attention but she failed, but she managed to succeed by getting him out of his will and over his dead body will he marry her.

But his mom swore that over her dead body will she allow Joseph to marry me , he must marry the woman that is carrying his child.

I started shaking.

I couldn't cry even though I wanted to.

And Nonye went ahead and said their mother went to Cynthia's people and paid her Bride price and she also forced Joseph to stay for a week or two so he could get along with the mother of his unborn child.

But through out Joseph's stay in the village he didn't allow Cynthia to step her foot in his room and even their father also asked his wife to stop putting so much pressure on Joseph, so Cynthia was sleeping in their mother's room with her while their father moved in the guest room.

So that was how Joseph managed to stay away from Cynthia all this while and he was always worried about me and she also added that he said he was too ashamed to pick my call and talk to me about the misconception but she Nonye had encouraged him to try and do so when he gets back to me.

Nonye also pleaded with me that I should not let Joseph know that she told me anything because he is really passing through a lot now.

And that he needs me now more than ever.

I thanked her so much for at least telling me the truth and she also said Joseph was to return back to the city in two days time.
